The Eden Valley is perfectly placed for exploring the Howgills, Pennines and the Lakeland Fells. In 2016, Maulds Meaburn was one of the villages that was incoprorated into the Yorkshire Dales National Park, with this area now being known as the Westmorland Dales.
In the surrounding area there are countless walks in limestone country - Orton and Great Asby Scars, Sunbiggin Tarn, High Cup Nick and Smardale Nature Reserve to name just a few.
If gardens and historic houses are your thing, you will find Levens, Sizergh Castle, Dalemain, Hutton-in-the-Forest and Mirehouse all within easy reach.
The forests and lakes of Cumbria are less than an hours drive - Grizedale, Whinlatter and Dodd, Haweswater, Ullswater, Windermere, Thirlmere and Derwent Water.
