Set in a quiet lane in the quiet village of Maulds Meaburn, Harry's Barn was tastefully converted in 2001 from a 200yr old Cumbrian field house into a charming, detached self catering holiday cottage.
With exposed stone walls and oak floors, low beams and ceilings it retains its old country style.
Harry's Barn provides beautiful, rustic, upside down accommodation with its open plan living area / kitchen / dining area, comfy sofas and a wood burning stove all on a mezzanine level.
The home from home comforts include free WiFi, flat screen TV with separate DVD player.
There is a fridge, small freezer, full electric cooker, microwave, dishwasher as well as everything else that you would expect from such a comfortable holiday cottage.
There are two very low beams in the open plan living area (146cm / 57 inches off the floor), also there are some low ceilings in the building, so in parts you will have to duck. This all adds to the charm of this unique building.
The main bedroom contains a king size bed , wardrobe and traditional furnishings.
The occasional bunkroom houses a 2ft 6in bunk bed - suitable only for children (aged 5 - 15. because of limited headroom on the top bunk).
We have no provision for toddlers (due to safety reasons).
We have no provision for babies.
The bathroom contains a small bath with overhead shower, plus the usual facilities.
There is also a washer/dryer.
Bedding (all cotton), fluffy, white towels and tea towels are included in normal times.
(not currently being supplied due to the pandemic).
Also included is a starter pack for the multi fuel stove ( 1 bucket of coal, 1 large basket of wood, kindling, firelighters and matches).
Harry's Barn also has a large garden and ample off road parking for your car. The garden is fully enclosed to a minimum height of 1 metre.
We also have storage for up to 2 bikes, just let us know if you need this facility.
MOBILE PHONE RECEPTION
The mobile phone signal within the village is poor, although we do find that O2 works within some parts of the Barn itself, and also by the gate.
The signal can be intermittent, and of course, it could depend a lot on your phone.
We have tried other phones with other networks and they will not work.
The signal however is restored on all networks as soon as you leave the village.
